There are many people living alone in our country through circumstances beyond their control. Think of them as tiny islands, disconnected and not knowing how many others like them might be close by. It is beneficial to all when the effort is made to close the spaces and connect these tiny islands. Persons living alone who wish to find a contact companion submit to us information that assists us to match you or your loved one according to the designated desires of both individuals. The only thing we ask of our 'contactees' is that you be willing to be in DAILY contact with your contact companion, at a time of day that suits you both.

WHY DONATE

Currently our organization efforts are focused on reaching out to thousands of individuals so they may register for our services. It is no small feat for us to seek out and utilize the many avenues available for contact. We need your help toward this end.

OUR MEMBER SERVICES

Our registration process enters you, as a person who lives alone, into our database with other persons just like you. We then use the criteria you select to locate a 'contact companion' for you. Samples of choices you will make when you register are listed below.

LessAlone.org offers an additional safety solution for use in conjunction with such mechanical safety systems as:

* ADT home alarm systems

* LifeAlert personal alarms

[and we do endorse the use of either or both of these]. But, like locking your keys in your car, you can get caught with "your pants down". And, while no method of safety protection for anyone is 100% fool-proof, the best you can do for youself is to take precautions.

For additional safety and peace of mind [or for those who simply cannot afford the monthly fees for the mechanical systems' protection], we promote daily contact with another person. Through this, both of our members contribute to and receive the benefit from each other.

If you are a reliable person who can commit to regular DAILY contact with another, each of you potentially serve as a "first alert" to authorities, if either of you calls on the other for help.

The importance of regular daily contact between you is obvious - what if you cannot call for help? If your contact companion cannot contact you, this sets off an alarm that you may be incapacitated, unable to get to the phone, and thus unreachable by phone.

We then "match you" with others who have made similar choices to yours during registration, as well as utilize other sampling criteria such as age, circumstance, and locale of members. Further, we strive to complete a list of possible contact companions for you within 90 days of your registration. The only thing we ask of you is that you be willing to be in DAILY contact with your contact companion, at a time of day that suits you both.

The staff at LessAlone.org makes every attempt to pair every person in our database with a contact companion they are both happy to be in contact with. If, at any time, for any reason, you need a new companion, we will gladly supply you a new contact.
